Our Methodology
Data Sources
Our remap estimates are derived from aggregated data collected from reputable tuning sources across the industry. We focus on Stage 1 remaps — the most common and conservative form of ECU tuning that requires no hardware modifications.
Conservative Estimates
All figures shown represent conservative, typical estimates. We deliberately err on the side of caution to ensure that the gains shown are realistic and achievable for most vehicles in good condition.
Suitability Score
Each engine variant receives a suitability score from 1 to 10, based on:
- Percentage gain in BHP and torque
- Engine aspiration type (turbo vs naturally aspirated)
- Balance of gains across power and torque
- Known limitations or risks for the platform
Gains Profile
Each engine is classified into one of four profiles:
- Balanced — Similar percentage gains in both BHP and torque
- Torque-focused — Greater proportional gains in torque
- Power-focused — Greater proportional gains in BHP
- Limited headroom — Modest gains available
Data Under Review
Some records are flagged as "Data under review". These are engine variants where our automated quality checks have identified potential anomalies (e.g., unusually high gains for a naturally aspirated engine). These records are still displayed but with a visible warning.
